Later on July 23, 2020, tinyBuild revealed Hello Guest had been renamed to Hello Neighbor 2, on that exact same day, Alpha 1 of Hello Neighbor 2 released, earlier in October 2020, tinyBuild revealed Hello Neighbor 2 Alpha 1.5 will release that month, with Halloween related events, more story, and a revamped ending and intro. Hello Neighbor 2 is a Stealth Horror Game where you’re being stalked by a mysterious creature as you try to track down Mr. Peterson (The Neighbor) who has disappeared after the events of the first game. Play against an advanced, self-learning AI that tracks and adapts to your every move.

Hello Neighbor Alpha 2 brings a couple new features to the game beyond what is found in Hello Neighbor Alpha 1 plus many changes to the game environment. Most notably is the introduction of the Unreal Engine console and debugging function, that said, this would be the only Alpha download to feature these items. This version has a much more elaborate cutscene which goes on to set the tone for the game as a whole.

n Changes
Again with a few design changes, the Neighbor’s house is back to the original blue as in the prototype. The house is smaller as one of the floors has been removed in this version but with the right tools, a player can access the roof. No longer is there a night and day cycle, it is always daytime in this build. Several minor edits have been made to the appearance of items throughout the game, this has improved the overall aesthetic.
Player Model
Players in Alpha 2 build, have been given proper modeling and their hands are now visible when picking up an object, holding it or throwing them. The controls have been somewhat refined as well in an effort to improve the playability.
Game development
The game continues to develop in this version, with each alpha download there is more and more of a playable game, but clearly, there was more tweaking that is needed to be done before the next build was ready to be unveiled.

Self-learning AI
- AI explores the environment and constantly seeks ways to ambush the player
- AI watches player navigation patterns and if these seem to be effective, will replicate them
- AI has a daily routine that gets disrupted by the player: sleeping, eating, cooking, and possibly going into the woods to dig up bags of non-bodies
- AI will use the same objects as the player, using them for the same purposes. If the player uses a fire extinguisher to get up top, so will the AI.
Open world
- Explore the Raven Brooks, there are no limitations and players can go anywhere from the beginning of the game. The AI protects its house when the player is trying to break in, and stalks the player when out in the open world.
- Players have their own stories. Narrative is emergent, depending on how players decide to play the game.
- The world changes depending on your actions
Sandbox experience
- Players should find creative solutions to solve the puzzle by combining different items, terrain features and platforming skills
- Many in-game events are persistent and scheduled in random order, that gives a feeling of a living world. Players may examine each random in-game event to find a different outcome
